As the royal Ambassador of Flutterfield, the butterfly-fairy, Mariposa, along with her purple puffball-pet, Zee, travels to the magical fairy-kingdom of Shimmervale to make peace with the Crystal Fairies. Almost instantly, Mariposa becomes friends with King Regellius' timid daughter, Princess Catania, unbeknownst to them that the spiteful fairy, Gwyllion, and her pet-bat, Boris, are bent on destroying Shimmervale by turning the land's precious crystals into rocks.
