Paul-André possède beaucoup de choses : une maison somptueuse, une voiture dernier cri, un majordome à son service. Seulement, Paul-André est seul et s'ennuie. Homme d'affaires désabusé, il décide de "s'offrir" une famille, comme on achèterait un steak au rayon surgelés. Pour cela, il propose un marché à Violette, petit bout de femme pleine de peps et mère protectrice de ses deux enfants : contre rachat de toutes ses dettes, Paul-André va s'installer chez elle pour 3 mois, afin de découvrir les "joies" de la vie de famille, le tout étant régi par un contrat en tout bien tout honneur... Mais il ignore les surprises que lui réserve sa "famille à louer", qui est loin de le laisser faire sa loi dans son territoire !
